There’s a moment that happens for so many girls.
Maybe it’s asking to borrow a lip gloss before school. Maybe it’s standing in front of the mirror with friends during a sleepover. Maybe it’s becoming curious about beauty for the very first time.
It’s small. Innocent. Exciting.
And yet as a mom, it can also feel surprisingly complicated.
Over the past few years, beauty culture has started reaching girls younger and younger. Products have become more mature. Trends move faster than ever. And somewhere in the middle of it all, many parents are simply trying to figure out what feels appropriate, safe, and healthy for their daughters.
That’s the space where Petal Pop was born.
Not from the idea that girls shouldn’t enjoy beauty.
And not from the belief that beauty itself is something negative.
But from a desire to create something softer.
The In-Between Years
Tween girls are in such a unique stage of life.
They’re growing, exploring, becoming more independent, and beginning to develop their own sense of identity. They still carry so much sweetness and imagination, while also wanting to feel a little more grown up.
That balance matters deeply to us.
We didn’t want to create products that pushed girls to grow up faster than they need to.
We wanted to create products that honored the beauty of this stage instead.
A first beauty product doesn’t have to mean heavy makeup or perfection.
Sometimes it can simply mean:
- a touch of shine
- a hint of color
- a fun ritual with friends
- a moment of self-expression
- something that feels special
The Moment That Inspired It Even More
When my daughter turned 10, I wanted to celebrate the excitement of entering double digits in a way that still felt thoughtful and age-appropriate.
So instead of focusing on “grown-up” beauty, I took her shopping to build her first little beauty kit together.
We picked out things like:
- deodorant
- gentle skincare
- moisturizers
- lip balms
- and soft lip oils
Nothing overly mature.
Nothing heavy.
Just simple products that made her feel excited, included, and cared for during this new stage of growing up.
That experience stayed with me.
Because I realized so many girls are entering the beauty world earlier than previous generations — and many parents are simply looking for a softer way to navigate it.
That feeling became part of the inspiration behind Petal Pop.
Why We Chose Lip Oils
When creating Petal Pop, we kept coming back to one question:
What should a first beauty experience feel like?
We wanted something lightweight, playful, and approachable.
That’s why we started with Bloom Lip Oils:
- sheer washes of color
- lightweight shine
- comfortable textures
- thoughtfully selected ingredients
- and a softer overall beauty experience
Nothing too heavy.
Nothing overly mature.
Just enough to feel fun, expressive, and confidence-boosting.
More Than Just Beauty
To us, Petal Pop isn’t only about products.
It’s about preserving softness in a world that often pushes girls to grow up too quickly.
It’s about friendship.
Creativity.
Sleepovers.
Flowers.
Little rituals.
Confidence without pressure.
We wanted Petal Pop to feel playful and modern while still protecting the tenderness of childhood.
Because girls deserve beauty spaces that let them feel included — without asking them to become someone older overnight.
A Softer Start
At the heart of Petal Pop is a simple belief:
Beauty can still feel gentle.
It can still feel age-appropriate.
It can still feel joyful.
It can still feel creative and expressive without becoming overwhelming.
And for many girls, maybe that first beauty memory can simply be:
a swipe of lip oil, laughter with friends, and the feeling of becoming a little more themselves.
